You were born with the gift of laughter, and the sense that the World was mad.

It's the time right before the French revolution. In the provinces of France, aristocrats make the laws as they please, and the King's Dragoons enforce them. The peasants life is one of struggle to make sure there is bread for the day.

As members of a touring troupe of Commedia dell'Arte players, your part in life is to distract your audience with merry stories and romance. But also, perhaps, to use your voice to speak truth to power, to rouse the crowd and bring about change.

This game was created for the Gaming Like It's 1923 game jam. It is based on the Rex Ingram movie Scaramouche (1923) and inspired by Commedia dell'Arte, Vincent and Meguey Baker's Apocalypse World and John Harper's Lady Blackbird, among other works.
