From out of the ashes...

You’ve heard of the T-DEF initiative, of course. Brave soldiers, heroes of the resistance, the stuff of legends. That’s all in the past now – crushed beneath the heel of the unyielding alien assault.

If you are reading this, you are now the resistance. You are the T-DEF.

I won’t lie to you. The situation is dire. The resistance has no real leader, no command structure, nothing but a glimmer of hope and the grim determination of an underdog with nothing left to lose. But rest assured, there are still those who would rather die fighting our oppressors than to live under their yoke!

So find your people, grab a weapon, get organized, and take this fight to the enemy!

T-DEF 2 is the sequel to the GMless tactical ttrpg of troopers vs aliens, T-DEF! If you've played XCOM, you already have a pretty good idea of what this is.

The game can be played alone or with up to four players. It requires no to minimal prep, and each operation usually doesn't take more than 30–60 minutes.

The game consists of a 16-page zine (100x203mm), a two-sided system reference sheet, character sheets and some enemy tracker sheets. Everything but the zine is free to download and print out, so knock yourself out, trooper!

UPDATE 26.8.2025

On account of the current postage situation, where I am unable to send packages to the US, as well as dwindling inventory, I have decided to delist the physical sales of zines altogether. The games are still available as digital copies, of course, and if you live in a country that I am able to send games to and really really want a physical copy, reach out to me and we'll try to make it work. In the meantime, thank you all for your support and interest, and be excellent to each other!

T-DEF 2 is available in a pdf format, or as a small print run of 100 numbered zines. The physical edition includes postage (priority within Europe, economy for the rest of the World) and the pdf version of the game.

The physical edition comes in a stamped envelope containing:

  • The 16-page game zine
  • A system reference trifold sheet
  • 3 two-sided character sheets
  • 3 two-sided enemy tracker sheets
  • and as a small bonus, my business card game Free Traders.

PLEASE NOTE!

I will be away from home most of July, so please know if you decide to get the physical editions it will be some time before I can get it in the mail for you. Sorry!

The components are printed on a home printer. They are then folded, stapled, and cut by hand. I use quality papers, and I strive to make these zines to the highest quality possible, but as they are a hand-made product there may be small variations in the print run.

I love the original T-DEF so much I spent months hyperfixtated on it and have a document where I bolted on like 30 pages of mechanics including rules and such for a sequel and now I see this and basically I'm genuinely crying tears of joy. Thank you for making this. I'm so excited!! <3

Hey hey! As someone else who adores both versions of this game I was wondering if you still had any of those rules/would be comfortable sharing? I've been noodling around with some house rules split between this and Stay Frosty and it'd be cool to see what others have come up with!

This looks very interesting. Any chance that you add fillable character sheets or a character keeper to support online play?

That's a really cool idea! I'll have to figure out how to do that first though. :-)

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I have no experience in making those. I found this tutorial series about character keepers https://www.gauntlet-rpg.com/blog/basics-of-online-character-keepers

Really glad that you are open to the idea!
